Welcome to the club, No. 4 Washington. The 12 members of the College Football Playoff selection committee changed course in their second official rankings of the season and added undefeated Washington to their top four one week after snubbing the Huskies in favor of one-loss Texas A&M.The rest of the top four remained the same with No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Michigan leading the way, followed by No. 4 Washington, No. 5 Ohio State and No. 6 Louisville. Another bonus for Washington was the fact that its next opponent, USC, jumped into the rankings at No. 20 after winning five straight.Last weeks No. 4, Texas A&M, dropped to No. 8 after losing to Mississippi State, while Nebraska sank from No. 10 to No. 19 after losing 62-3 to Ohio State.Louisville jumped up one spot, but that likely was more a result of A&M falling than it was a convincing win at Boston College. The Cardinals are still looking up at Ohio State in the race between one-loss teams.Heres what the bracket would look like today:As for the other major bowls, heres a projection based on the current rankings:The Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual still gets the Pac-12 champ, but since Washington is in the semifinal, it would choose the next highest-ranked Pac-12 team, No. 12 Colorado. Since Big Ten champion Michigan? also is in a semifinal, it would take the conferences next highest-ranked team, No. 5 Ohio State. The Allstate Sugar Bowl is guaranteed the Big 12 champ, which would be No. 11 Oklahoma, and because SEC champ Alabama is in the semifinal, it would take the next highest-ranked SEC team, No. 8 Texas A&M.The Capital One Orange Bowl is guaranteed the ACC champion, but because Clemson is in a semifinal, it would take the second-ranked ACC team, which would be No. 6 Louisville. The Orange Bowl then chooses the next highest-ranked team from the SEC, Big Ten or Notre Dame. In this case, it would be No. 7 Wisconsin. The highest-ranked Group of 5 champion is guaranteed a spot in a New Years Six bowl, so No. 21 Western Michigan would go to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. It can then choose an at-large team from any FBS conference, and No. 9 Auburn is the highest-ranked team available.Heres what New Years Eve and New Years Day could look like, based on todays rankings:Dec. 308 p.m. ET: Capital One Orange Bowl: No. 6 Louisville vs. No. 7 WisconsinDec. 313 p.m. or 7 p.m. ET: College Football Playoff semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Washington3 p.m. or 7 p.m. ET: College Football Playoff semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl: No. 2 Clemson vs. No. 3 MichiganJan. 21 p.m. ET: Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic: No. 9 Auburn vs. No. 21 Western Michigan5 p.m. ET: Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual: No. 5 Ohio State vs. No. 12 Colorado8:30 p.m. ET: Allstate Sugar Bowl: No. 8 Texas A&M vs. No. 11 Oklahoma Ronde Barber Jersey . LOUIS -- Cardinals cleanup hitter Allen Craig says hes recovered from a foot injury and ready to be put on St. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Led by red-hot rookie catcher Gary Sanchez, the Yankees find themselves only 2 1/2 games back in the American League wild-card chase with 11 games to play, and theyll lean on a young pitcher as they try to finish a three-game sweep of the Rays on Thursday night. Were going to keep fighting. Thats what this club does, manager Joe Girardi said. We went through some really difficult times in Boston (in four-game sweep before Rays series) ... theyve bounced back extremely well. You get the big hit from Gary and it carried over to tonight and we need to carry that over to tomorrow. To keep their momentum going, the Yankees will hand the ball to rookie right-hander Luis Cessa, who is 4-2 with a 4.44 ERA. New York won his first four starts after he moved in from the bullpen, but has lost the last two.His turn keeps coming against the Rays -- hes only faced two other teams twice, but Thursday will be his fourth appearance against Tampa Bay, with modest results -- a 7.11 ERA, with 13 hits and 10 runs in 12 2/3 innings, including a loss on Sept. 11.What Cessa has given the Yankees is consistent, reliable innings -- his six starts have all been between five and six innings. That hasnt been the case of late for Rays rookie lefty Blake Snell, who has lasted five innings just once in his last five starts. The last time Snell faced the Yankeees, he managed to throw 88 pitches in just 2 2/3 innings on Sept.dddddddddddd9 -- despite that, hes 1-1 this season with a 4.15 ERA against the Yankees, making his fourth appearance against the pinstripes.Snell has hit something of a rookie wall, though, going 1/3 with a 6.41 ERA in his last five outings, dropping to his current 5-8 record with a 3.87 ERA. His ERA is increasing month by month, with a 4.82 in August and what is now a 5.54 in September. He wont have to last long to trump the 1 1/3 innings that Alex Cobb threw Wednesday, giving up nine hits and seven runs in a bad stumble in his return from Tommy John surgery. The game got away from us early on, Rays manager Kevin Cash said. They were hitting balls hard and it seemed like everything he was throwing was resulting into a hit of some sort.Any Rays success will have to start with containing Sanchez, who has three home runs in two games in this series and is making a late case for Rookie of the Year, despite his late call-up.(Logan Morrison) and I were talking on the bench. We were trying to think if weve ever seen anybody come up and do something like this, Cash said. Was that his 19th home run today? 18th? Both? What a talented player, offensively, defensively.
